Not sure if you guys have heard about this grassroots effort:

http://thisnovember5th.com/

It's an attempt to earn $10 million in a day. I'm sure they won't come remotely close, but it will probably be a strong daily bump, and reason enough to feel like October is going fine.

[/ QUOTE ]

Have they thought about the repercussions of 100,000 extra visitors to RPS site trying to donate? End up crashing his site.

[/ QUOTE ]

Visits are quick and payments are handled through the processor (such as PayPal). It should have little impact overall on the site's concentrated load at any point.

I have no idea how it works or if the donors even have to use his site directly. I had just heard about this thing and dug up the link real quick. I'm sure whoever is in charge of this effort has considered the obvious hurdles though. At least, I hope lol.

EDIT: Oops, I guess Artemis answered your question.

Please join us this November 5th for the largest one day political donation event in history. Our goal is to bring together 100,000 people to donate $100 each, creating a one day donation total of $10,000,000.
Please visit ThisNovember5th.com to learn more..
Donation Day Details

* I made a short call to campaign headquarters to make sure they are ready for the expected surge in traffic. They informed me they have upgraded their servers and assured me they are ready and happy to accept the donations.

* All donations are to be made at RonPaul2008.com without exception!

News

* We grew by close to a thousand today.

* There is a new graph on the website from Alexa. ThisNovember5th.com has surpassed Hillary, Rudy, Barack and Fred in website traffic. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see it.

* One of our subscribers is working on a way to contact all the MeetUp groups to inform them of the idea. It would be great if each MeetUp group could contact their local news and hold a meetup on November 5th in conjunction with the donation day event. This way each local news station could cover the event with Ron Paul supporters promoting Ron Paul and talking about the money raised throughout the day. This could mean over a thousand local news channels covering the event all across the country!

* Charles Goyette has been contacted, likes the ThisNovember5th.com idea and is going to begin promoting it! One of our subscribers took action and made this happen. It should be very good for our campaign. I’ll keep you posted as things develop.

Can't imagine they'll end up with more than 25,000 donors, but even on the low end of 15,000, $1.5mm in one day will certainly create a positive buzz. Looking forward to the big day and the stories of how much money this campaign is continuing to raise, but the real story needs to remain the message of liberty, the campaign's financial health is but a sidenote.

I will definitely be doing the 5th of November donation, in addition to a regular donation at the end of the month.

boro, do you think that promoting rp and fundraising for him and then posting about the merits of AC are contradictory?

I will say that it is very early to assign exponential growth. In fact it probably isn't exponential. It's probably just linear with a weekly sinusoidal modulation. I've trying to get additional data so that I can better decide.

Also, it looks like today is shaping up to be a terrible fundraising day; the worst of the quarter. So if you've got an extra $25 laying around guys, cough it up for liberty! I just did.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I don't think you should fit a trend, because last week had a couple of big pushes. You can't push every day, so the take on the normal days would at least be partially offset.
