Ugh.

My network at school sucked today.

Do I need to start an "Ask Prodigy about computers?" Thread?

So I will go through everything I missed lol;

CDL: The program is the same as PokerEV, if you would rather have pretty graphs

jack frost: I think my biggest downswing is actually when I first moved up to 200nl, which was like 18 buyins. My biggest at 400nl is around 14 buyins. I recommend so many not because of needing so much, but also so downswings don't affect your moods or your tilt factor. When a downswing of huge proportions doesn't dent your bankroll it feels good.

main: You're overdoing it. Suggestions:
Processor: 2.4ghz, 2.2 is perfectly fine
RAM: 2gb is fine, but I would go for 3gb
Hard Drive: Go for a 7200rpm drive. This is absolutely necessary. (Also lots of gb for pron.)
Video Card: If you upgrade from the standard one, only go one up. Upgrading this isn't really necessary for poker.

AS:

I don't really think Capaneo is a bad player at all, have logged thousands of hands with him at 2/4 (although I haven't seen him around lately, so you could be right). He relentlessly iso's weak limpers and always strayed away from regs after a simple C-bet. That 66 hand is definitely not the norm for him.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've played tons with him in the past at 1/2 6m and more recently 1/2 FR and I agree that he absolutely crushes weak players/fish. But from my experience he spews considerably to some of the better regulars.

It could be that he's tilted to me or I've witnessed him tilting more than others, but I've noticed some pretty blatant spewing.

Thanks guys - appreciate the analysis/advice.

I was thinking of calling and reevaluating the turn...
but given that he was a Short stacker... i probably should've pushed and see what happens and then tag a note of him if he was indeed set mining...

of course, knowing the weaker short stack players...he could've called with Ax suited... x matchign one of the flop ? oh well.

advice taken to the bank!

maybe i could become MORE than a 1bb/100 winner

If all you're doing is using it for poker, then just go into your local retailer and spend $500. That's what I did more than a year and a half ago. Then I just upgraded the RAM to 1gig and bought a nice video card. The video card turned out to be overkill because I never did go to two monitors.

$500 system today >>> $500 system a year and a half ago

My system is fine for 24 tabling at Stars and I've never had lag problems at FTP. However, as far as I know the lag problems at FTP had nothing to do with system specs and nobody was ever able to really pin down why some people had problems and other people didn't. Presumably some obscure system configuration issue.

If you wanna run Crysis at max video quality, then it's like buying a TV or a stereo. Buy the best you can afford...

Erm, don't do that.

Buying from Dell > Buying from wal-mart or w/e. (If that is what you mean)

Most retailers are selling like Acers/E-machines. These are not good.

Also, yes main if you are getting a desktop then $800 or so(sans monitor) is very good and about all you need.

I think $1300 range is the range for laptops, IMO.

Well, I had a positive session of 1600 hands in just over and hour and only won 46% at SD. Dilith cold 4bet me with Q2o after I was allin but the other guy's KK held vs. my JJ. Anytime you want to add some dead money though I'm thankful.

This is why you can't fold KK preflop ever. Sucks when A high doesn't hold in 5bet pots.

Isn't every hardrive that isn't for laptops atleast 7200rpm nowadays? If you got the money then go for atleast two drives, one smaller 10k rpm for OS and all programs and one bigger for all your data (pron).

And buying the parts yourself and setting them togheter yourself > all. But then you gotta research a bit what stuff fits togheter but you get the most bang for the bucks if you're willing to spend some time reading forums etc.
