Default Number 1 overall pick team by team (lottery)

Thay3r asked me in the NCAA game thread where I stood on the Oden/Durant situation. I decided to break it down by every team in the lottery. As poker players we know everyone has a chance!!!

As you can see, the top 4 teams by chance would all take Oden IMO, so that means Oden is probably going #1. That said, I do think there are 6 teams out of 14 that would take Durant given the number 1 overall pick.

I went from worst to best chance at the top pick.

Golden State- Biedrins is a great young center and Golden State needs a go-to scorer. Who they take: Durant.

New Orleans- With Chandler already there and Peja's injury problems, a frontcourt of Durant-West-Chandler would be devastating. Who they take: Durant.

Atlanta- They have an infinite amount of 3/4 players in Childress, J-Smooth, Marvin. Who they take: Oden.

Minnesota- Mark Blount sucks, and Durant is just a smaller KG. Who they take: Oden

Chicago- Ben Wallace and PJ Brown are aging. Deng is a similar size and skill level to Durant. Who they take: Oden.

Sacramento- They really have problems defending opposing bigs. They have enough scoring punch with Bibby-Martin-Artest. Who they take: Oden

Seattle- If they re-sign Rashard, they take Oden. If they can't they take Durant.

Portland- With Aldridge and Randolph, they have enough beef. Who they take: Durant

Philadelphia- I'm a big Samuel Dalembert guy, and think they desperately need some more scoring punch. Who they take: Durant

Charlotte- Playing Okafor and Oden at the same time would be tough. They also have trouble scoring at times. Who they take: Durant

Phoenix- THey have 83920483290423 capable scorers at the 1-4 spots. Kurt Thomas is aging. Who they take: Oden

Milwaukee- They really suck defensively, and have enough capable scorers. Who they take: Oden

Boston- Bird, McHale, and Parish ARE walking through that door in the form of Pierce, Jefferson, and Oden. Who they take: Oden.

Memphis- I'd like to see Pau move back to the 4, and the Grizz have some really good options at the small forward already. Who they take: Oden

I don't remember... but does it really matter until the lottery takes place? Only one team gets the #1 pick anyways...

Well no sports discussion really "matters" it's just fun.

The point is that there is no Yao or LeBron, and that the talent differential is small enough that teams can draft for need, and this is how I think it would go.

I sort of surprised you have Oden going to Phoenix, considering their style of play, I would have them picking KD. Also, I think they'll be trying to get rid of Marion's contract soon.

Oden if he comes out WILL be the #1 pick IMO
A guy like him comes around about every 15 years, you cannot pass up on that
not to mention that every championship team in recent history has had a quality big man, with obv exception to MJ's Bulls

Ugh to the OP, PHX won't be getting a #1 overall pick. The trade is Top 3 Protected so they won't be getting the #1 overall.
