You should have raised the turn obviously. He figures you've just called the turn on a draw, otherwise you would have raised with something like AQ. You would have bet the flop if you hit top pair on it, so he's representing the 9, he knows you don't have it, no draws hit on the river.

this is kind of the key point, there no descrption of the villian in the OP, so its hard to say, id probably fold but be kinda temped to call, its tough because its really hard to gauge his range since u checked the flop. also, ur image is pretty important in spots like this, this hand is very metagame related.
