Unless he is a complete moron (which is possible), I'm thinking he put you on a bluff and was calling down with a modest holding. His strong river bet seems to narrow his range to one that mostly includes bluffs and monster hands.

true. the limp call/call bet could be kk/qq from a lot of people. he was the type that could bluff the river with at or something and then think he's getting pot odds to call because i could be bluffing

open pushing or c/c are prob better.
