related sports betting variance: my prop bet with triumph, after looking like a laugher, is going to come down to the wire and depend on whether a hung over tim wakefield can avoid getting shelled today by the twins.

[/ QUOTE ]

wow really? i thought that one was a lock for you.

double or nothing on a yankees-sox alcs if it happens?

edit - sick. if he gives up 6 runs in 6 innings it's a push. if he gives up 5 runs in 4 innings, wake's ERA is 4.935, rounding up to 4.94, meaning i win. gooo twins!

wakefield: 4.80, 182 IP
clemens: 4.18, 99 IP

so if wakefield gives up five runs in five innings i would still squeak out a win. five runs in four innings and it's a push (LOL).

the scenarios i listed above seem to suggest it won't be a push, though i don't know how mlb does their rounding.

c'mon boston infielders and outfielders! be sure handed, but don't run TOO hard for balls - gotta rest up for the playoffs.

Should have put money on the D-Backs making the playoffs and winning 90 games despite giving up more runs than they've scored. Could have gotten 10 kajillion to one imo.

And they really have zero chance of winning it all. You should hedge your bet - by making some big bets on other teams who have a realistic chance (namely, any AL team).

lol

before the game starts lets just agree - unlikely it will come down to this, but why don't we just agree on a method - i.e. we just run the calculation directly without rounding and whoever wins wins, or we say anything within .005 is a push, whatever you want. i don't believe in pushes so let's just do it without rounding
