Default quik theory question (i think)

do you guys like to raise 3x in the blinds to keep a small pot while you're out of position or 4x or something higher to hopefully end the hand right then, since we'll be oop the entire hand?

i think that there is merit to both sides, just curious if its player dependent for any of you.

if i'm straight raising from the blinds, its generally with a big hand. so i raise a lot, for value. if they choose not to call, thats ok. I don't think I have a problem playing against limpers in that situation, so while it sucks to be OOP, i'm not overly concerned about being outplayed.

if i'm reraising from the blinds, it may be with a wider range, so I raise pretty big to encourage folding.

generally, i make bigger raises while oop than in position to try to negate (reduce is probably a better word) the positional advantage (relative to stack size) that the in-position player will have.

definitely 4x to try and end the hand right there

If there is only one limper, I may go for a cheaper steal by limping and firing 3/4 pot on any flop with ATC.

If I'm raising or reraising from the blinds, it is usually big as I want as few opponents as possible, no matter my holding.
Being OOP sucks!! Being out OOP with multiple others seeing flop really really sucks, if I raise too much and get no callers with a big hand so be it.

i'd make it 4x to just take it down there

i know when i'm in the bb a 3x raise looks much more tempting to call than a 4x

i should add if i'm in the sb and you're in the bb i would raise 3x because i'm looking to play more pots with the fish
