I'm too lazy to look up if Finland is in the EU. If it is infinitely I think. Free movement of persons law-[censored] i think. However, from outside the EU I suppose you would need a visa.

There is something what could be a problem in the future, our nice government is planning to restrict online poker, so that it is only possible to play online at the Holland Casino poker room (owned by the government LDO) and you have to pay 40% in taxes on your winnings. I don't know how far they're gonna take this idea, and if they're gonna block money transfers via Neteller. But for now Holland doesn't look that attractive for a poker pro.

that is not the whole story, the EU is looking into dutch gambling policy. And it is not looking pretty. So there is a chance the dutch gambling market will be open to foreign companies. Besides that there are some procedures running to convince the governement that poker is not a gambling sport but a skill sport.

Even if you moved somewhere that didn't tax poker income, you'd still have to pay taxes to the US unless you renounced your citizenship, which you probably don't want to do.

You won't have to pay (US) taxes on the first $80k that you earn if you are in another country. That is like a bonus 30k/year depending on your income level.

PS - This isn't an option for me now, but this sounds hot.

My American friend is in and can stay until May.

Besides that, not much outside the responses in this thread. Still have to follow up on a few things though.

I'll also try to phone that Almere stuff and find out what their options/demands are.

Amsterdam remains tough to find a good place. Non-amsterdam has its advantages you know. Everyone can park their car, nice quiet neighbourhoods, some open space/nature, garden (BBQ ftw).
