If I feel frisky here vs. this guy, I check/shove a small bet and prooooobably check/fold to pot or something. Otherwise I just bet/call.

7.2k in pot and I think it was more like 12.5k behind, IIRC. And I like your line (in hindsight)...although I don't know if I would have been able to abandon the plan if he made a close to pot-sized bet.

I like this play the most. I think that by checking you can possibly get better hands to fold if he doesnt bet pot or something like that,.
