Re: The negative stigma against slowrolling- I don\'t get it.
The different between a slowroll and other means to tilt someone is simple.
first of all, you cant ignore it. While you can ignore a crazy screenname by simple not looking at it, or turning off the chat. secondly, the other things to get someone tilted will win you money later on... while when you slowroll you already accomplished your main goal that said , i think op has a very good point |

Re: The negative stigma against slowrolling- I don\'t get it.
best thing would be as some jerk is slowrolling, his internet cuts out and cause him to fold the nuts in a huge pot. Now that would be justice.

So OP is anti-offensive/retarded screen names and anti-offensive/retarded chat.
Can we go home now? |

the other things to get someone tilted will win you money later on... while when you slowroll you already accomplished your main goal that said , i think op has a very good point [/ QUOTE ] i also think op has a good point, i personally think you should behave yourself at the pokertable not talking trash etc. I don't ever show a bluff to tilt someone, maybe for strategy purpose sometimes. And i think the reason slowrolling is a no go would be because it has nothing to do with poker and is outside of the rules. Bluffing is a part of poker and showing the bluff is within the rules of poker. Trashtalking and intimidating opponents also is a part of poker. But slowrolling is when the hand is over and you know you won the pot, it has only one goal and thats to totally upset your opponent. A good pokerplayer doesn't need to disbehave to get a edge on his opponents. |

Re: The negative stigma against slowrolling- I don\'t get it.
the reason i am anti-slowroll but pro offensive screennames is that slowrolling isnt funny and wastes time while offensive screennames are funny and dont waste time.
people who are actually offended by someone making his screen name "slavery_lol" or "hezballah" (yes, i know how to spell. the name is a pun) are gigantic nits. it should be clear that they dont actually have offensive viewpoints to go along with the screennames. |

Re: The negative stigma against slowrolling- I don\'t get it.
[ QUOTE ]
I equate slowrolling to talking trash, admiring your home run instead of just running the bases, doing a big touchdown dance, etc. It's showing up your opponent. You're basically taunting your opponent with your victory. I don't like that in any sport, and I don't like it in poker. [/ QUOTE ] yeah it's so inconsiderate of a professional football player to do a dance after the safety who was trying to inflict as much pain as humanly possible upon him the second it was within the rules missed his hit. touchdown dances are amusing and often creative. people like shownmanship in sports and a lot of that stuff is more for the fans than a direct attack on the people on the opposing team. when you go to the driving range, do you not watch your nice shots until they land? watching a home run could largely be because it is satisfying in the same way. sports are ENTERTAINMENT. why do you need to take them so seriously? |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'm kind of surprised at how many people don't understand the point of this thread. [/ QUOTE ] THEN WHY DONT YOU JUST TELL US WHAT THE POINT IS THEN??? NO NEED TO DRAG IT OUTTTTT!!! MF!!!!! [/ QUOTE ] I'll give you a hint: I'm not suggesting that everyone should start slowrolling each other. [/ QUOTE ] That's exactly whaat you're suggesting. You're suggesting that since the point of poker is to make money, everyone should use any edge possible to get more money. Slowrolling, you believe, is a means to that end. So, therefore, slowrolling should be done at every opportunity. Slowrolling is for immature a-holes. A.C. Slater said it better than I ever could. |
