Default *** JANUARY 2007 Low Content Thread ***

It's a new month, so new thread to post low content.

It's also a new year, any new year's resolutions?

Mine:

Turn all my levels on pokertracker to green (positive numbers). I knocked out PLO 25 (6 max), next is PLO 100 (full table).

Continue to improve

I started playing PLO again a couple of weeks ago. 7500 hands, the results are not very good. I made 10 PTBB/100, which is ok, but at 6 max tables (5800 hands) I am only at... 0.5 BB/ 100 ! It seems I have trouble adjusting to short handed play. Moreover, my standard deviation is 120 BB/100, which seems to be too much. I now try to play less like a maniac, we will see.

My resolution : stop 4-tabling 6 max. I win a lot when 2 tabling, I suck when I play more tables. I'll try again when I totally beat .5/1 and 1/2 6 max tables (10 BB/100 on 5000 hands seems a resonable goal) .

To be more aggressive at 6max PLO, and to stop paying off the damn short stacks.

I leave for South America, Australia and beyond on the 12th of February. I haven't played since the 22nd of December. Between now and then I'm going to play 200 hours online (about 40k hands) and 40 live, and win enough to cover the trip. I know this is nothing for some of you but damn 40k is a lot of poker.

Then I'm going to enjoy the trip, fit Vegas into the itinerary, and not play my 40,001st hand until WSOP time.

No no no my friend, look at my stack. Was a fairly aggro preflop table. Was looking to c/r preflop. Also, post flop he was aggressive enough that I knew he'd commit himself on the turn.

I actually played it perfect. Thanks though.

Not.

And I'm not talking about pre which is fine. You are often against the same straight on the flop and you are freerolling huge on him, even if he can make a better straight with some non-club outs. But by smoothcalling, you lose your action when the flush comes on the turn or the board pairs and all he has is the straight.

Jack the flop.

Sorry bluff but I disagree and it's mainly because of the history I had with him at the table.

He may be doing this with two pair or a set, not just a straight. I knew he would stay aggressive with these marginal hands on a turn that didn't fill a flush or boat. Therefore, to keep him in the pot and staying aggressive, I played this hand passively to have the exact results occur that did in fact occur (except for the damn river card).

The action I didn't want to lose was from marginal hands that would likely fold to a repot preflop.
