Rush with Greg Almond and Jennifer Jason Leigh was a good one too. It may not be one of the best but it's an interesting take on undercover narcs and drug addiction

One I haven't seen mentioned: The Boost with James Woods and Sean Young.

Boogie Nights has pretty much the most accurate coke scene I've ever seen (with Juilianne Moore and Heather Graham).

i always tought scarfaces "head into the pile" at the end was the most accurate coke scene ever made

More accurate than Woody Allen sneezing away a pile of coke in Annie Hall? Talk about gritty realism.

theatrical, A-list lead (involved pending script)

The rights holder killed the studio version a few years ago. It will be funded by a mini-major most likely and/or private investors. My partner just joined a conglomerate of companies expanding from distribution into a new mini major (big casino guy is co-owner).

I'm only involved because the rights holder is close to my good friend and they are looking for fresh talent to write it.

This movie is more about drug smuggling than addiction but I think it is worth mentioning. Midnight Express is the story of a young American hashish smuggler who gets caught
smuggling in Turkey. It is a compelling and haunting movie and it is a good film for young travellers to see before they go on a trip to those countries where drugs are prevelant yet punishment for even possession can be severe.
