Response 1) Looking @ his voting record, his position essays, and that he's been a consistent small-government proponent throughout his 10 terms in Congress, I'd estimate he's done 10mm% more than the average small-government Texan. EDIT: good pt, Ron, I'll pretend he asked the question I think he's meaning to ask: "If Ron Paul was ineffective in reducing the scope of government while heading a smaller area, with less responsibilities, how does anyone think he'll effectively reduce the scope of government as our national leader, with a huge number of other responsibilities?"

If I'm reading the tone of your post correctly:
Response 2) What did MLKJ do to eliminate racism in Alabama?

(or am I reading too much into what I think you're trying to claim?)

what did ron paul do to reduce the size of govt in his own state?

[/ QUOTE ]

Since he's never been a state politician, you're holding him to awfully lofty standards to think he is for some reason supposed to have decreased the size of that government.

What he did do though as a private citizen is to do his part by not accepting medicare or medicaid payments from patients, and instead working for free if need be. He also did not let his kids accept any federal funding for their education, and instead paid the way for all 5 of them.

If everyone had that attitude, government would indeed be much smaller. But he is only one man, sorry he wasn't able to sneeze and wipe out his state's government for you.

WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE TO RON PAUL

1. Ron Paul doesn't go the gym. He stays fit by exercising his civil rights.

2. Ron Paul delivers babies without his hands. He simply reads them the Bill of Rights and they crawl out in anticipation of freedom.

3. Ron Paul doesn't cut taxes. He kills them with his bare hands.

4. Jesus wears a wrist band that says "What Would Ron Paul Do?"

5. When Ron Paul takes a shower, he doesn't get wet...the water gets Ron Paul.

6. Ron Paul could lead a horse to water AND convince it to drink, but he doesn't believe the government has the right to so he refuses.

7. Ron Paul's midi-chlorian level is off the chart.

8. When Chuck Norris gets scared, he goes to Ron Paul.

9. Studies by the World Health Organization show that Ron Paul is the leading cause of freedom among men.

10. Ron Paul makes the U.S. dollar want to be a better currency.

So the wife called my hand here:

Me: "Can I donate more money to RP in your name?"

Her: somewhat consternated look (like, wtf are you wasting your money on now): "Do you really think he has a chance?"

Me: (long pause) "Well, I want to help get the message out, and he needs money to do that"

Her: (consternated look)......

You guys are going to have to step it up to make the $4M October goal. To make $4M by the end of the month, you should be at about $3M right now (about $1.3M from where you are right now.)

Good luck! (unfortunately, it will be difficult for the Paul campaign to launch a good telephone campaign for fund raising because Paul supporters are unlikely to answer the phone --- or is that only if a pollster calls? )

My rough calculation is that Dr. Paul's fundraising for the month is rising exponentially at the rate between 8 and 9% per day for the month. That trends out to about $3.5M by the end of the month, leacing only a $0.5M deficit for the fundraising target. Given what happened last quarter, plus the fact that end of the month paycheck will be hitting donators, I believe a last minute push will hit the $4M target.

I still think $12M for the quarter was too aggressive.
