Default 99 in bb with limpers late 4.40

Late in 4.40 couple of the limpers are loose, ones a bit tighter. Standard check or a raise?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (8 handed) internettexasholdem.com

MP2 (t8875)
CO (t4522)
Button (t5765)
SB (t8605)
Hero (t10080)
UTG (t28775)
UTG+1 (t13376)
MP1 (t24581)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

I raise it up here. Make a pot-sized raise (1200-1500) and I think you see a lot of folds here. 99 is a hand that I don't like check folding on a nasty looking flop. If I'm going to play it, I'm going to try to get some value out of it and in this case I think what's in the pot right now is enough value with you being OOP.

I'd probably shove, happy to pick up a 1500 pot plus antes...if you get a caller you're in a flip at worst and maybe a smaller pp calls thinking he's in a flip.

Of course if it's me shoving I run into a guy who was very trappy with a monster hoping to induce a raise/shove.

Yeah, push. You can't be afraid of MP1 here, he is most likely splashing chips around; if he's trapping, so be it. If you raise to 1600 and get a call, you're going to be scratching your head on too many flops.

Or, you can check your option and hope to hit a 9... If not and there is aggression, fold it. Wait for another hand as you have a stack to continue playing. No reason to take a big hit or go out w/9's...

your def ahead of everyone's range here, but prob not by that much. With 33BBs it's kinda hard here to raise over 3 limpers OOP. I think the important read here is MP1, CO and button are less significant b/c they are overlimping and have smaller stacks. If you think MP1 folds hands like JTs and QJs and KQo, then raising is good. But if you make it 1800-2000 and he flatcalls (with a big stack) those kind of hands and sometimes shoves smaller PP's...your going to have a tough decision either pre or on the flop (when overcards hit and u have to bet 1st.) Easy call if MP1 folds and one of the other two call/shove. If u can narrow MP1's calling range then i like raising to 1800-2000. I wouldn't even mention shoving, except i know that some posters will be advocating it (very, very bad IMO.)

You don't think pushing here is way to excessive an overbet? I understand a sizable raise is right, but 10k seems a little too much to me.

If it's late in the tourney when the blinds are bigger, I'll push to take down the pot... (Squeeze)

The only problem with this is when someone in EP limps KK-AA and wants an aggro LP player to squeeze... (Been on each end of the play)

Well, a reasonable raise would end up being somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500-3000 chips. That's a lot to commit. You might as well just shove preflop. I hate shoving with a deep stack, but this is a fair spot to do it.
