Building a pot with TT in lp
Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t120/t240 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t6230 UTG+1: t6975 MP1: t7390 MP2: t870 MP3: t1820 Hero: t5285 Button: t6225 SB: t3195 BB: t795 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is CO with T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 folds, MP1 calls t240 (pot was t360), 2 folds, Hero raises to t800, 3 folds, MP1 calls t560 pot was t1400). Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t1960, 2 players) MP1 checks, Hero bets t960, MP1 calls t960 (pot was t2920). Turn: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (t3880, 2 players) MP1 checks. Results: Final pot: t3880 I think shoving here is the best move, the pots as big as my stack essentially (both our stacks actually) and I really can't put the guy on a Q after check/calling the flop there. What do you think? |

Re: Building a pot with TT in ep
First, you are not EP, you are LP and in CO.
Secondly, there is an ante here if this is a tourney, 120/240/25. So, the pot is definitely big enough to make this a standard shove. Barry |

Re: Building a pot with TT in ep
LOL I'm an idiot. I put ep as part of my own personal recollection of the hand but didn't bother actually READING my own HH. doh!

I like your line. I think a shove is in order...

Take your chances and push... He maybe waiting for a high card A/K to show up, no reason to let him have it.

Are my raises and bets ok up to this point?

Re: Building a pot with TT in ep
The flop bet is a little smaller than I'd normally put in here , slightly less than 1/2 pot. I'd bump that up to about 1100 and I think that'll give you a little more info about the strength of his hand. I don't think your bet is bad, however.

[ QUOTE ]
Are my raises and bets ok up to this point? [/ QUOTE ] Not in my opinion it isn't. 240 + 240 + 120 + 200 (antes) = 800 in the pot. Your stack is 5000. If you raise 4.5XBB to 1080, the pot is going to be ~2600 and you are going to have 4000 remaining. That [censored] sucks! GL if a A, Q, or K comes up and he checks - you get no more value if you have the best hand and will face an AI or a CRAI with the worst hand. So, by playing this kind of flop, if things fail, your stack now totally sucks. But it doesn't improve a hell of a lot more if they go OK. It's true that he will probably limp/call with a worse hand which includes A10, KQ, KJ, AJo, QJo, maybe weak aces, and like 66 - 99. But, against 88-99, you may wind up getting it in preflop when you push (he'll put you on 77 or AK/AQ based on your "overpush"). Against all hand combos 10+, you are looking to grab those 800 chips and increase your stack by ~20% here without showdown. He folds almost always with those hands, so your FE is excellent. Barry PS: As played, bet more on the flop, like 1300. |

Re: Building a pot with TT in ep
Raise more preflop, and your bet is okay on the flop only if you're autoshoving this turn. Use your bet raises to make your future decisions easier. The people you play against aren't good enough to see through that.
