Default roommate dispute - opinions?

situation: Person A, B and C are room mates. Their lease is up at the end of the month, but person A needs to move out 2 days earlier because his job starts before the lease ends. Their apartment had cable tv and internet, both billed under Person A's name. Person A calls up the cable company, and arranges an equipment pick up on the last day of the lease. He okays it with Persons B and C, who confirm they can stay to make sure the equipment is picked up and taken care of.

Fast forward 2 weeks, Person A comes back from 2 weeks away from home because of work, and gets a large bill from the cable company saying they need their equipment back. He then calls Person B, who says no one came by on that date, and he ended up leaving the stuff with their land lady.

Now, the question is, did Person B (and C) do anything wrong?

I would say person B and C did something wrong because "He okays it with Persons B and C, who confirm they can stay to make sure the equipment is picked up and taken care of."

If no one came by to pick it up, they should have called the cable company and set up something else. Generally you can drop the items off.

Was person A being compensated in any way for being the one "responsible" for this?

If not, then whether B and C were at fault or not (sounds like they were to at least some degree), it seems low to punish the guy who was essentially doing a favor to begin with.

easily B/C's fault, A was just not being an [censored] by returning it early and leaving them hanging for two days. once they agree and A leaves, that [censored] becomes their responsibility.

Agreed. Although Person A should have called the day after to make sure the deed was done.

no. B/C should have called/emailed/whatever person A when they moved out and let him know that the stuff wasn't picked up, and they should have held on to it.

This is neither A nor B's fault. This is the cable company's fault for not coming to pick up their equipment when they said they would.

B and C suck. A took the responsibility of having the stuff in his name all year and the other two couldnt make sure one little thing got taken care of. if they are so lazy that they are just gonna leave it with the landlord they should at least call A and remind him how pathetic they are so that he can take care of it himself.
