Default Soooo Nath thinks he knows what he\'s doing.

There was a thread in the TV forum about that actor that laid KK preflop when he thought the other guy had aces. The KK's had slightly more than 4-1 odds I believe.

I was very impressed when he laid em down. Then Nath (and a few others) say it was a bad move.

Well I had PM's Nath a few times just trying to get him to see the light. Just basically asking him if it was just always about the odds. Asking him "is there not ANY way you could lay down when the math tells you not to?!?"

He barely left the door open saying maybe there was some weird situation but for the most part it was about the numbers.

Although I have the basic odds down and for the most pasrt agred with him. I thought there were many times when you had the odds where you lay em down.

I won't bore you with the possible scenarios. But I did and do still feel there are a couple.

Well today I was playing in a B&M tourney at the Gold Strike in Tunica. There were 6 of us left when this hand came up :

T500 antes

1500-3000 blinds.

The SB and BB were just wanting to move up a lil and were VERY tight. I ws on the button. Showing me much more respect than I deserved.

I was about avg in chips with T18k. The SB and BB had me covered.

We were 8 handed and everyone folded to me on the button.

I bet T8500, the SB folded and the BB pushed all in. So what can I can't I call her all in with?

antes = 4k
SB = 1.5k
BB = 3k

I raise to to a total of 8.5k. She goes all in and I have 8k left.

I'm very disappointed in what I raised with. Once she went all in my life pretty much flashed before my eyes. Because I knew if I folded I was definetly all in within the next 5hands. I really didn't have to put myself in that position.

The resaon I bring up Nath is because even though I think I would have called before. After listening to Nath I realized the odds were the odds.

My range of hands I could put her on????? I have no clue. I figured if she had QQ, KK, AA that she would just call and watch me go all in on the flop.

 Well I called and she flipped over KK. I still wasn't disappointed in my call of her all in. Just mad at myself for raising with 10 2.

The flop was 3x4x5x.
The turn was a 6 and she was draawing dead.

Just like online though a K cam on the river.

 So being results orientd I guess I shouldn't have called. But the range of hands I could put on the BB made me call.

The non smart butt in me is basically saying thank to Nath I think I made the right call.

What kind of range could I have put her on?

OMG DAMNIT!

you totally beat me to it.

edit: anyways, i really don't see the point of your post and u've lost me on certain details. (your stack size?) and why are you worried about a hand range when your forced to call the 8k anyways?

1) you said u had 18k, yet you raised to 8500 and say you have 8k left? wtf?

2) anything other than a fold or a push is ridiculous with that stack size

3) with the stack sizes you gave, i think you're getting something like 4:1 and 102 is worse than a 4:1 dog against an overpair. not that that means fold, since opponent doesnt always have an overpair

4) reread #2 because thats really bad

Ok I didn't start this thread as a brag. Or that I made the right move based on the odds of 10-2 vs KK.

I had rolled over the BB and SB about every orbit. It didn't matter what I had I was raising.

But once she went in the old me would have thought for a minute or two about folding. There were some smaller stacks and I had the whole orbit before I really had to go all in. So I probably could have picked up something better than 102.

Had I known she had kings I would have probably folded. But since the range of hands could have probably been 7-7 and up.

So my very long story is if you think you have the odds go with it.

Did I learn anything else today? Don't raise with 10-2.

1- I was estimating. I was off by a little. But not enough to change anything IMHO.

2- I don't even think folding was an option. That is unless she showed me somthing like she had. That is correct isn't it?

3- Exactly

4- I know I totally screwed up by raising that amount with that hand. I was frisky. The definition of frisky here is stupid.
