I think these are pretty cool, but I haven't really paid attention to sunglasses since the 90s.

if you're looking for sport-specific sunglasses on the cheap, i can't recommend performance (a house brand for a big biking retailer) (no affiliation) enough. i recently lost my (9 year old) oakley pro m-frames and needed a pair of sunglasses for playing golf and running in. a friend suggested performance and i couldn't be more pleased. they're light, come with 3 sets of lenses for varying sun conditions, fit extremely well, and have 'open' frames (no frame material on the bottom of the lenses) which is crucial for golf sunglasses. i'll never pay $120+ for a pair of sport-specific oakleys again.

i am still looking for a pair of everyday sunglasses. can some one suggest a pair of sunglasses that are big, boxy, and black in the $100 area?

1) Testimonial: Expensive sunglasses are totally worth it and here's why.

I wear my maui jim's in salt water, and they hold up great. i see better when i drive, even when it's raining, and i think they look great too. and after 1.5 years of abuse the lenses are still crystal clear, with no scratches. the frames are pretty torn up though.

also, i hear their customer service is top notch. my friends dad dropped his sunglasses from his neck and stepped on them. he told maui jim what happened and they sent him a $100 gift certificate.

i have also heard probably 5 people tell me that they are never going to buy another pair of sunglasses again that are NOT maui jim's. for a product that has so much competition, and doesn't seem to passionate to me, that is surprising to hear, and speaks volumes.

i went from wearing sunglasses i bought at a gas station to $200 maui jim shaka's, and i would do it again in a heartbeat.

and i actually suggest the particular style i got, since they seem to look good on most everyone.

I am looking for a bigger framed glasses as I have a pretty big head. Most small frame sunglasses look awkward for my face. I was looking at card player and I liked these pair of glasses they look to be RayBan any other bigger frame sunglasses that look decent.

Someone aside from CDC needs to purchase this pair. You know who you are.

I like those but I prefer his Prada Aviator's.

I fall into the same camp as Diablo. Can't really buy expensive as I lose/break them too often. Right now I've got a decent but inexpensive pair of Fossil Polarized lenses that I got for $33 from Macy's.

as many others in this thread have said: maui jims rock. if you want to be cheaper about it, check out costco. they carry discontinued maui jim styles (their styles don't change much, really so it's no big diff) for a lot less than retail. still run you between 80 and 140, but it's a damned good pair of glasses.

SC,

Go with the Natives. I have had a pair for 3 years and love them.

Also, the Natives have a lifetime warranty. If you break anything on them you can send them in and they will give you a new pair.

Maui Jim is one expensive brand that everyone I know who has bought them loves.

Indeed. If you have a wide head like me there is no substitute for not getting a sunglasses tan.
