Help with Financing
The used car dealer I am planning on using told me to check out my financing options, and they would try to beat whatever rate I could get.
I dont feel like applying for a bunch of loans, so what rate should I tell them? My credit score is average (mid 600s), and I have a pretty good income. Any thoughts? |

Re: Help with Financing
You're not gonna get a very good rate on a used car at a bank if your score is mid 600's. I processed auto loans among other things and for you I'd expect around 10%. Of course the bank I worked at was always higher than every other bank in town on auto loans. If you are a member of a credit union I would check there. Credit unions have a lower tax burden and pretty much always have lower rates than banks.
Instead of applying for a bunch of loans I would call your local bank/s and just ask for a rate quote on a used car X model year, X dollars and give them your credit score. It shouldn't be hard for them to give you a ballpark. |

Re: Help with Financing
when my score was about 630, I used lending tree, and got, I think, a 9.5 or 9.8 or something. Now I'm up over 700, and I just got one a lot lower.
