People [censored] with my truck at 1AM...

Minutes ago I was outside my apartment smoking a cigarette and some odd [censored] occured. First I hear a car door slam in the *upper* parking lot of my 7 apartment (2 vacant) complex. Some guy who look very upset bursts into the street (a rather quiet road, especially at ~1AM), crosses said street and walks down the hill while on his phone with a cigarette in his hand. I'm a little confused, as he clearly doesn't live in my apartment complex, but still, whatever. I look down to the *bottom* parking lot and there are two people acting incredibly suspicious hovering around my gas tank. They were probably ~18 and one of them had baggy raver pants (while I live in a slightly sketchy area of Bellingham, WA, most of the sketchy folks around here are meth heads/gangbangers). I yell "HEY! Get the [censored] out of here!" and they run off in seperate directions. I go down to my truck to check (I expect them to have slashed my tires or something). The gas cap is off and I have more difficulty than usual getting it back on.

They didn't seem to be siphoning gas because I don't remember seeing a gas tank as they ran off (though I'm a bit drunk right now). What might they have been doing?

That's what I thought they might be doing, for what reason I have no idea, but I'm not sure exactly what this accomplishes. Should I get my truck checked out tomorrow? Do I have anything to worry about driving to get it checked?

Also, DblbarrelJ, I'm slowly becoming more accepting of the idea of getting a gun, but it wouldn't be used for situations like this. I'm a libertarian, but I don't think I could ever use a gun for anything other than the defense of life (not property).

what is that an M-4? Its pretty sweet but How the hell is that practical? Just get a 40cal.
