Blah, this is without a doubt G Dub. If you're going just sports figures then it is DB. Most people from the US don't realize just how big soccer is internationally.

To those arguing about Jordan and Beckham, it hasn't really been clarified if "recognizable" means to know what they look like or just to know they are a good basketball or soccer player. If you are really picking people out of a lineup I think that can change things. Tons of people could tell you who each of them are but don't have any clue what they look like, US is obviously biased towards knowing what Jordan looks like but that is probably different everywhere else.

I vote Tatoo from "Fantasy Island." No one knows his real name, but everyone knows Tatoo...

I think the amusing thing about Beckman's recognizability, is his comparitively lack of eliteness in his field

Jordan is the best basketball player of his era, and a top3 alltime

Tiger Woods is the best golfer in the world

George Bush is the president of the united states

Beckman isn't anywhere near the best soccer player in the world(is he even top50?) and never at any point has been

very good point. It has always been that way with DB. Being the poster boy for Man U and then Real Madrid for many years has ensured his fame even when his perfomaces off the field havent warranted it

If your not interested in sports it is possible that you don't know Beckham, Woods or Jordan. But you have to be blind or from Mars if you don't recognise Bush or Princess Diana.

wtf are you even talking about?
he was runner up in 1999 and 2001 for the fifa world player of the year. even if you want to claim this rating was high because of his popularity he was obviously in the top 50.
