Default KQ 2pr vs v.tight passive

Christ, I hated this hand. I took a meal button after the hand to sort of think through it a bit and just relax, I was about 7 hrs into my session at this point.

--------

Villain is tight passive: He will cold call KK as a trap, he raises with it first in, and I think I've seen him 3b before but it was like multiway. I've seen him overlimp/reraise with strong hands (aa/kk/qq), but I've also seen him overlimp call with something like qq. He instantly cc's with AK when raised, although if you were stealing his blind, he might reraise you, maybe, I'm not sure. He adjusts a little to maniacs but not much. He's also very careful post-flop. This means stuff like just calling the flop when bet into multiway with stuff like 1pr or overcards, and then folding if there's a raise and a call behind him lolz. I think he cold-calls with AQ, and I don't know about AJ, he'd probably have to think you're crazy before he cc's that. Actually I think ONCE I saw him cc a crazy guy with A3s, but we're talking crazy here.

------------

I'm UTG and I raise KcQc. 3-4 folds, and this guy cold-calls me in MP3, folded back to me. 5.5 sb

Flop: AcQs7h rainbow with my backdoor.

I bet, he pauses for just a moment and calls.

Turn: Kh (3.75 bb)

This is the totally sick play. I check, he bets, I raise, intending to bet the river and likely call down (and lose, I SHOULD fold, but I WILL call down) if raised.

When I first thought about this hand, I really hated it, but the more I think about it, I kinda am starting to like it. This is second lowest limit in the casino: 10/20 live.

So let me see if I've got this right...the AKQx board has us totally crushed by pretty much everything in his coldcalling range, and you check/raise the turn intending to call down after a 3bet? Unless you think he's going to fold AK/AQ to our check/raise, I don't get it?

I'm not 100% sure how much I should weight AJ, AA, QQ KK JJ TT AK AQ here, but I agree with you.

I don't like it as much as I did even 5 min ago.

Thanks, dude.

Yikes. I didn't see bluff anywhere in your read on him, so you're trying to bet a rock off of a hand? Yikes.

If you have a read, and it's accurate, why don't you use that read?

If he only coldcalls with that range, he has us crushed hard... FOLD!

hmm... this guy wont' bluff, so he won't bet out if he's got nothing... very high chance he's got two pair better than yours. since you called you on the flop, the ace could have hit his hand pretty much. The only cards that you could have him beaten: AJs, JJ. I don't think he'll call the flop with JJ, he's too passive, from the way you descibe.

I like sexy-out-of-tempo-check-raises against nitty/annoying/tight/passives as much as the next guy, but here I think I just lead out and fold to a raise. The upside to the way you played this hand is that if you get 3-bet it an easy laydown. At the very least this check/raise/fold play will help your metagame because this guy will start coldcalling you with a wider range.
