More or less, but that isn't the reason why. Stats like Dpar and DVOA aren't flawless, but them factoring in game situations and sacks make them much more useful.

I may be slightly off on this, but guess which QB has a career record of 18-9. HOF-bound Rex Grossman, ldo.

Carson Palmer career QB rating 91.4
Ben Roethlisberger 91.9

Carson clearly better.

[/ QUOTE ]

A better measuring stick, but passer rating is flawed. It doesn't adjust for scedule difficulty. It overvalues completion percentage and TDs, and understates the importance of INTs. It doesn't reflect sacks at all, nor doers it acknowledge the importance of first downs. Did you know that Roethlisberger gets sacked nearly twice as often as Palmer (1 sack every 10.5 attempts vs. 1 every 19.5 attempts), which is especially damng since Palmer runs a much more vertical offense, meaning he has to hold on to the ball longer.

Also, in the future, you may want to acknowledge the good points that others make, instead of just changing the subject when one of your arguments gets shot down.

Teams in the same division play the same schedule except for 2 games.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh rly? That's a pretty big deal when the majority of NFL teams finish with between 6 and 10 wins. 2 games is often times the difference between making the playoffs and having a .500 or worse record.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yah oh rly. It's a big deal when the 2 game discrep give you 2 extra wins/losses every time, which of course it doesn't. One of the two games is the difference between playing the Chiefs & Raiders. Yawn

Isn't being sacked in large part due to the quality of the defence, rather than qb (like 85/15 if u had to put it in %s).

They play basically the same schedule. You could argue that the Steeers have a worse O-line.

Sorry, you'll have to forgive my terminology. I meant the guys who defend the QB (who are on the offensive line as you say).

Everything a QB does is in large part due to the quality of the defense. 85/15 is almost certainly too high, especially considering that schedule difficulty will roughly even out over the course of a few seasons. The real split in responsibility for sacks is between the QB and the offensive line. I don't know what the correct split is for that, but I do know that o-lines tend to get too much blame for sacks, and QBs too little.
