Back from China/Tibet! What\'s shaking OOT?
Haven't really had internet access for the last month, but just flew back this afternoon so of course I'm chceking 2p2.
Couple of observations from my trip: 1) Chinese girls finally figured out how to dress fashionably/sexy and apply makeup properly. Thank god for western influence. 2) There are no hot college aged girls dating college guys. They are all on the arms of ugly middled aged businessmen. These are not whores but regular girls who have decent educations and whatnot. This depressed me. 3) Do not expect a properly prepared cocktail at any bar anywhere unless it is the absolute swankiest of hotel bars and next to some foreign embassy. And sometimes not even then. 4) Despite the above, being able to buy liter bottles of Tsingdao beer for 25 cents is awesome. 5) Tibet can be heartbreakingly beautiful. I'll post a proper trip report with pics later. Right now I'm trying to get some rest so I can goto AC tomorrow. |

Re: Back from China/Tibet! What\'s shaking OOT?
On this thread...
Ok I'm looking to basically move to China for 6 months; I have a few questions: I am an Australian citizen. Is it even possible to live there for 6 months? I need to be able to play poker. I don't need to get money out of my account, but I have to be able to play. I want to live somewhere artistic / beautiful scenerywise. I don't want to speak English. I have done 2 years Chinese at Uni and am not great but need to be immersed to learn. I need reasonable net. Not amazing, but reasonable. I would like to do Kung Fu or similar while there. I have done none of this in the past. Is this possible? Has anyone done similar? I need access to a piano (even if its at a Uni nearby that I can sneak into; this is actually really important). Guangzhou sounds good. Is my plan even feasible? Money is no issue and I can leave every X amount of time to renew a visa. Heading off to Tibet then China soon, sounds wonderful. Martin |
