They tape several shows at once, well before those shows air. So when the producers were choosing which one to show as Drew's first episode, clearly they would pick the most exciting one -- the perfect show with $1 beating $0.95 as well as both showcases being estimated well. That specific show wasn't destined to be the first one aired; it happened the other way around.

Today's was evidently a perfect show as well, but the President gobbled up 40 minutes of it.

I only caught yesterday's show, but it really looks like Drew's just mailing it in. I'm trying to put my impression into words here....

Bob had a certain way of seeming as excited about the games as the contestants were. The whole show is cheesy, as are the games, and that's the appeal. He had the right mix of attitudes...kind of like a play-by-play guy and a color-commentator all rolled into one.

Drew just seemed like he didn't much care. I sensed a lot of "OK we're going to walk the Golden Road" like it was something he HAD to do, rather than being somewhat excited as Bob always seemed to be.

He's surely got big shoes to fill, and maybe he just needs to get his "Game Show Voice" as someone said. I'll watch when I can, but I sure hope he gets better.

I tend to agree with what others have said. He needs to find his voice. It felt to me like something was wrong with the sound, like they gave him a crappy microphone or something. But I think its just the switch from Bob's smooth delivery to the noob. I think Drew will get better, but he has some giant shoes to fill.

I've only seen the first show so far, and will get to catch today's as well. I thought he did fine but was nervous, as others have said. I think it's gonna take me longer to get used to the purple [censored] set than it is Drew Carey.
