Default B&M: Calculator Use Allowed?

I assume calculator use is prohibited in major B&M tournies? What about the iPod calculator -- could one legally use this accessory during a live tourny, say to calculate pot odds?

If you need to use a calculator to figure out pot odds you have way more problems then whether or not that's allowed.

The only thing you might want a calc for is figure out multi way deals at the conclusion of a tournament.

It would be rather funny however, if someone had one of those really old calculators with the register tape that comes out the back. Mental note of the sound is enough to make me laugh.

I don't know if it would be allowed but I do know that it would probably slow down the action enough for your tablemates to hate/laugh at/target you.

You're not asking the dealer to count out the pot (I hope), so you just need to round your math to "bets" instead of actual chips. Eg, Hero limps in MP, folds to Button who raises 4BB, SB calls, BB calls, action on Hero (Fold; Call 3BB in pot with 13BB - 4:1 odds; or re-raise).
