Upside down can thread is stupider, warm coke is weirder. Personal tastes vary, but putting cans upside down in your fridge for cleanliness purposes is just dumb.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yea, upside down is dumb, but at least Iggy knew it wasn't normal. How racer had never before been exposed to the idea of cold soda boggles the mind.

Guh? That's not how I remember it. Anyway, thanks for letting him have us in NOLA. I don't even watch the NBA. Why am I posting about this?

You're right. Dickie V was surprisingly high on an ACC PG.

How many different cities have you repped in 2p2?

The point I really got into poker. Up until this point I had been playing nano-stakes and not really doing much with it.

It was the Empire500 disaster. Empire had given out a 100% up to $500 bonus code to a select few players. I'm not sure what the exact reason was, but needless to say they didn't take any steps to keep every account from using it. It got posted in the internet forum here and on bonuswhores and everybody under the sun used it. I and many other small time players deposited $500 in to NETeller simply to take advantage of this offer.

Of course it didn't get paid out. I think they ended up giving us $15 or $20. However, I had already taken steps towards playing more and had a proper bankroll at that point, so it kinda took off. Not that I really ended up playing much for very long, but at least it got me through a couple semesters of college without loans.

Other specific moments I remember:
Yankees/Red Sox in 2004 (the threads that helped spawn the sports forum)
First time I read inthacup's Vegas TR
Empire splitting off
Empire coming back
Party shutting down

I'm sad TSC's 10,000 post isn't in this list,

tone,

If you get the time, could you please compile a list of top 10 BBV4L posters, top 10 OOT posters, and top 10 overall posters.

Thanks!

Does Bicycle's Biatch suck at everything, or is his suckiness limited to limit hold'em, identifying collusion, using common sense when driving after a few drinks, stealing from casinos and result orientation?

thanks,

bob

tone, what do you know about me?

Yeti,

Surprisingly more than I thought I did when I first read this question.

Basically, I figured that my knowledge of you was limited to your British-ness. That, in and of itself, is a little obscure given your penchant for All-American Tom Cruise avatars. Now, I'm not sure if that's a subtle dig at Americans for idolizing someone who is such a tiny little bitch or just a decoy to keep the masses guessing. Or, I guess, maybe it could just come from an honest-to-God appreciation for a movie that I myself loved as a child, being too young to fully appreciate the nipple-silhouette scene or the latent homosexuality. It's kinda like rapping along to Regulators in 3rd grade and wondering why all the older kids are laughing when you "On to bigger better things than some horny tricks."

However, like Lori, you manage to have a pretty strong grasp of American football. That's rather impressive to me because I just figured that all you cross the ponders hated our boring game. Now, that does bring up another point though: I'm not sure you still live in England. I mean, I'm pretty sure you do, but your posting times seem to be fairly similar to your average Americans. I actually do notice these things because when I'm up at 3 or 4 in the morning I hope a lot of you guys are on so that there's someone to talk to on here.

Also, you are pretty good friends with a lot of high powered people here. Judging by postings on here, including but not limited to making plans to eat lots of hot dogs, you and daryn's crew are pretty friendly. However, you did a great job waiting until after the hot tub picture to join up. That is, unless you're 1800 and I just never caught the name change (he was in that picture right? Daryn, mongo, bruiser, eugeen and jay?). Diablo has also seemed to take a liking to you, making you a mod of his forum and whatnot.

You are also v good at NL poker. I'm not positive what stakes you play exactly, but it would almost certainly qualify as "High." I wonder if this is a part of your connection to ED. As people may not be aware, ED snapped himself up quite a few great young apprentices back in the day. Daryn, bruiser, kkf, all have benefited from the great wisdom imparted by someone DS once called a top 20 mind in poker. However, don't bother pm'ing him, it's more of a "you don't find him, he finds you" kinda thing. And if you haven't heard from him yet, you won't.

So yeah, that's pretty much it. I'm also pretty sure you're fairly tall, kinda skinny and blond headed, but I don't have too much to add to that.

assuming you know enough about me to answer this,

-what's something relevant about me you think people don't know, and something people perceive about me that isn't actually true?

[/ QUOTE ]

I mean, I know a couple things about you that most people probably don't unless they have a good remembery, but nothing really relevant. I mean, I guess if people don't know about your accident and resulting effects that's a pretty big deal, but I would basically lump those people into a category of "Not knowing anything about nath" so I'm not sure it really counts.

Something people perceive about you that really isn't true? Hmm, that's a tough one and I probably don't know enough about you IRL to answer it well enough. If I had to guess though, I would say that people put a much stronger emphasis on dependency and pathetic-ness (fake words what what) on your pjn-esque drug usage than would actually be true.

-what would happen if Anacardo and I met in real life?

[/ QUOTE ]

It would most likely be a ground breaking social experiment, with a small but not impossible chance of full scale war. Basically, from what I can gather (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) you two both masterfully play the anti-hero. Two old fashioned guys down on their luck in any number of ways who happen to soothe themselves with very different remedies. However, it's not the different remedies that cause the friction, I believe, so much as the attempt at the same spotlight.

If we were to get you guys in a room I think it would start with both of you talking about how bad this and that is and forcing one's hardship on the other. However, it would most likely end in drunken hugs and commiseration over similar feelings and happenings through both of your young lives. I mean, yeah I think the two sets of stories would differ vastly in their actual content, but the feelings evoked from both would be strikingly similar.

Of course, both of you bringing a posse to the same party would probably end much worse. Think, Beat It knife fight.

TMS,

When I think of TSC, it's not the 10kth post (however, that was epic seeing someone actually reach that milestone. fwiw, my 10kth is me telling FFK to f off). No, my memory of TSC is his yankees rant:

I love searching for TSC posts around October of 2004 and using +TONY +CLARK to find it.

t0ne,

Speaking of TSC, why was there a backlash against him? Before my time, I think. I always enjoy reading his posts, he knows his stuff in Sports (although he likes soccer though, LOL), and seems like an all-around good cat. Overexposure backlash from back when he posted more?

Also, was there ever a super sekrit forum on this site that posters here used to visit? Not the mod forum, I mean an invitation only type thing.

I think it does mostly just deal with overexposure. I believe it was nolanfan who asked in the first thread "If TSC started posting today would he make it to 10k posts?" I answered no then, and still believe that to be true given the climate of OOT at the time. Nowadays? Maybe he would make it to 10k, I mean, look at some of the other superposters floating around.

He's very opinionated, and I think that does rub some people the wrong way. He had some pretty awesome rap argument threads back then, and almost made some peoples heads explode when he said that Doggystyle might be the best overall rap album.

Yes, there was. I just tried to go back to it though, and the site no longer exists. Sad, really. It was a pretty awesome collection of people from both poker and OT forums, but never really caught traction. It took off for a little bit, but then everybody came back. I remember people planning an amazing fake NETeller freezing on multiple people's accounts back when the thought of that was all silly fantasy, but nothing ever became of it.

Other highlights were wacki's great scientific articles and Zeno's beautiful China pictures.

Ok, I seem to be hitting my stride with writing now, so instead of wasting it on you guys I'm going to go write some more grad school essays right now and answer any other questions late tonight or tomorrow. To keep you entertained, I will say that my first question involves me choosing to invite Chad Kroeger, Kevin Reynolds, Billy Beane and Steve Jobs to a dinner party.
