No, I meant a real computer store. FWIW, I bought mine at Staples, but I seriously shopped around and got a great deal (clearance item, they were dumping a ton of systems seasonally).

I bought one of the first E-machines, like 10 years ago (?), before everyone knew they were garbage.

Is he buying a desktop or a laptop? I thought a desktop.

I got a reasonable HP laptop this summer for $600. It's not kick-ass or anything, but it's strictly a secondary computer that's mostly used on the road so it doesn't have to be. Haven't tried it for poker, but I'm sure it would be fine.

Bozeman, it would be helpful if you either raised the flop, or a little more on the turn, so that you can take their whole stacks by the river, without having to overbet and what not. You have a hand that is worth playing for stacks, so you need to increase the pot somehow before the river, if possible.

Isn't every hardrive that isn't for laptops atleast 7200rpm nowadays? If you got the money then go for atleast two drives, one smaller 10k rpm for OS and all programs and one bigger for all your data (pron).

And buying the parts yourself and setting them togheter yourself > all. But then you gotta research a bit what stuff fits togheter but you get the most bang for the bucks if you're willing to spend some time reading forums etc.

Haven't bought a desktop in years so didn't know [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I would suggest any new user DOESNT build their own comp, as the support and warranties provided by Dell et.al is worth it for all recreational computer users.

if i got a dell, should i go for the inspiron desktop with the athlon processor or go for an xps? it seems like xps is overkill as all i need the vid card to do is run duals.

I did raise the flop, albeit a small raise; but let's face it, i've practically got the nuts, and if one of them hits their straight/flush, i will take down a nice pot. One of my major leaks used to be overplaying my big hands and losing value. I was trying to extract more value, knowing that my opponents were either drawing dead, or very slim ( 2 outs ).

Nation;

Intel Core2Duo is extremely outperforming it's AMD counterpart. Go for Intel.

XPS is overkill. Go for Inspiron with Intel.

i dont like how passively you played this. First, i like raising the flop because if a 2, 5, or 7 comes your hand's value is reduced drastically, and you should make anyone drawing there pay. i like simply calling sets on uncoordinated boards, or boards with something like an AKx where its reasonable the raiser will fire again on the turn. also, under sets will not stack off often should the board become more straightable. second, i hate the minraise on this turn, you can get more money out of people drawing to a heart than a minraise. river sucks but its the right call
