Re: C/R flop with tpgk, now what
I think you put yourself in a pickle with the check/raise. You're paying way too much for information when you need to be donking this flop for ~$1.50. If he calls it sets the turn up for another bet to "see if he has it" without being pot committed. The problem you have here is that more than a half pot bet from you on the turn pretty much has you committed and yet can seem weak enough if you just bet half-pot on the turn he can bluff with many hands here. As played I probably check the turn here to see what he bets and CRAI if his bet seems weakish. If the action goes check-check on turn I would check-call most non-diamond rivers.

Re: C/R flop with tpgk, now what
I just dont donk, some people like doing it, I usually dont. C/R here for me is standard. I understand the c/r puts me in this position, but due to his likeliness of c-betting I feel a c/r here is a must. If I lead and he has nothing, I push him off a hand where I could have picked up at least an extra 6 bb's. Another thing about this board is that even if I c/r and get called, it does not scare me as there are many draws out there that he could be calling with as well. It just sucks when one of the draws gets there on the turn.

Re: C/R flop with tpgk, now what
perhaps a check-call lead turn line here would work well. I just don't think a check-raise line here is always necessary as he could have the best hand on flop and just be flat calling the check-raise and add the fact he calls light with draws most likely. You just have to avoid spots where you are facing committment decisions with 1 pair on the turn. IMHO I am not going to check-raise opponents that call it light but rather opponents that are willing to fold to a check-raise.

Re: C/R flop with tpgk, now what
Thats a good point. I could c/c flop and lead turn, but when people do that to me, its usually a bull**** bet. 9/10 times when they do this and I raise them, they fold, and I really do not want to get raised with my hand.

Re: C/R flop with tpgk, now what
I've seen sets take a check-call flop bet turn line too. It's a way to take advantage of people that refuse to let someone else control the pot size. But it can also give you valuable information at a better price.

Re: C/R flop with tpgk, now what
There really aren't overs on this flop.
If he calls CR w/ overs (6 outs), you know he will call a CR with 9 outs+. I think bet/fold is fine. |
