since the flush already hit on the turn .. i have a related question /scenario .. if we check behind on turn (control pot size and hope to make a boat) the river is a non-spade(not A or K )card .. is there a way to know how much of a bet we should call?

i remembering hearing/reading .. that some people think its profitable to call a bet by villain as long as its less than / equal to pot size..

Those mindonks are usually draws. Nice fold.

[/ QUOTE ]If it's usually a draw and the draw got there why would you bet the turn and say it's a "nice fold"? It should be "why the [censored] did you bet?".

Whose for checkign this turn for some pot control?

And for the free card. If we hit one of our 4 outs we are probably golden.

If he "know" what hand he has (i.e. spades), why bet this turn. A good thing to note on this player is what that min bet means. Sometimes its a weak hand, sometimes a weak draw, either way, if we bet the turn he only raises the hands we loose too, and folding the crappy ones (i.e. lets him play to optimally according the fundamental theory of poker).

I don't mind a check on the turn for the free card and pot control.

Nice thoughts, but I think you guys are missing that there ARE a ton of hands that he would call with on the turn and NOT raise.

A weaker ace, a weaker twopair, a combo draw, maybe the queen of spades etc... I cant be a 100 percent sure that he's got two spades, I wanted to loose the minimum but also win the maximum from weaker hands!

everything looks ok to me, only quip is to raise more pf.

you should be adjusting your raise based on effective stack sizes and position.

given this situation, I would raise anywhere from 5-7xBB depending on my past raising tendencies and how my opponents play post flop.

hmm... I usually just raise the usual 4BB+1BB per limper... think its pretty standard.

I shouldve made it 5BB since one guy posted another blind...

This is totally standard and good. Checking behind on the turn is not good.
