Greektown doesn\'t suck (as much)
Ok, so I've been bitching about the 1-2NL game with a 100$ max buy-in at Greektown to everyone who would listen for a while now. However, I was just there last weekend and they have now added a 1-2 NL game with a $200 cap and you can rebuy up to 200$ at any time. This is a much more reasonable game than the piece of crap 50-100 min/max.
Please note however: The majority of the dealers; The Tables; The Rake; The Cards; The Floor; and management in general; STILL SUCK SWEATY DONKEY BALLS!! That is All. |

Greektown is in Detroit.
[ QUOTE ] You had me excited about going back to Greektown for a second [/ QUOTE ] Well, the games are loose as hell. Unfortunatly, they still have the 50/100 games running and lots of the uber fish still gravitate to those games. If they got rid of the 50/100, the 200max would go from pretty decent to fking awesome. (softness wise) In four sessions there (4-6 hours each) I've run +400, -350, +250, +700. I would assume that is not a sustainable winrate, but with the exceptions of the +750 session, I didn't have any really unusual wins, just a steady 1-3 pots per hour. The single biggest gripe I have is the fact that a couple of those dealers were only getting out 10-12 hands per down. And thats with the auto shufflers. One truly crappy dealer was pitching the damn cards from about 6-8" above the table and then sending them on an upwards arc so that when they were in mid-air you could often catch glances off the bottom of the cards. Not enough to really see what they were, but enough to know if it was paint or not. Plus she flipped 3 cards in one down due to that technique. GRRRR. Anyway, playing there is better than not playing, and I think better than the $7 per half hour that MotorCity charges, but there is still a hell of a lot of room for improvement. |

Re: Greektown doesn\'t suck (as much)
Nah, it still sucks.
I played that $200 game for a few hours. One dealer got off four hands. Real bargain. The NL players there stink. I would play 24/7 only The timed drag is harsh and the dealers all need Ritalin. Best Michigan Poker Room by far is Mt. Pleasant. 1)20 tables 2)10% up to $5 max rake, $2 on short handed tables 3)game selection- 3/6, 6/12, 10/20 LHE, $50-$100 NL ($6 session fee), 3/6 kill O8B, 6-12 O8B, 3-6 Ohigh, Pot Limit Omama, 3-6 7stud. 4)No bad beat malarchy 5)No ten minute delay between dealers (they have their own trays) 6)18 and older can play 7)Yellow $2 chips for 6/12 game (illusion of big pots) 8)half dollar pieces for tipping 9)extremely fast efficient dealers (non union) 10)good management keeps tables full as much as possible The one way to tell if Greektown still is sucking or not is if the bad beat jackpot for 7-stud is still posted. They have not spread that game for years, yet the $21,000 jackpot has not been given away. In business I believe they call that embezzelment(sp). -J |

Re: Greektown doesn\'t suck (as much)
Well, they did roll the 7-stud BB jackpot into the Holdem one. In fact, it hit 3 times last Thursday-Friday. The jackpot was a whopping $517 on Saturday morning.
I do agree that Mt. Pleasant is a better casino, I just wish they actually ran all of those Omaha games regularly. Although, I did have one dealer at Soaring Eagle about 4:30am who was fking ancient and only dealt 7-8 hands on her down. And that was a short-handed game. |
