I'm on LSU -8.5... I agree with iggy that LSU is better by a couple of scores in this matchup.

I think you're underestimating JaMarcus Russell here. He has a stronger arm, is more dangerous as a runner, and has comparable stats:

Russell: 68.5 Comp %, 2797 yards, 26 TD, 7 INT, 168.10 Rating
Quinn : 63.4 Comp %, 3278 yards, 35 TD, 5 INT, 151.59 Rating

McFadden,

Russell could be a very elite college QB, but I think its his intangibles that make him worse. I'm counting on him to make a bonehead play at a critical time in this game to prove me correct. Maybe not as idiotic as Reggie Bush trying a lateral for some random reason to cost USC a Nat'l Championship, but I think he'll make some pretty solid bad decisions.

LOL you may have a point there, that indeed was a bonehead play (but it worked in high school once for Reggie!)

I'm counting on LSU's D to force some turnovers... I think they'll get to Quinn for a few sacks

I'm just taking cheap shots. Really has nothing to do with capping this game, but to think LSU is several TDs better than ND is just silly.

The line move is probably related to rumors several LSU starters were to be disciplined.

One rumor was over ticket sales which would have resulted in suspension, but now it seems several players missed curfew. The most likely discipline is a few players missing a quarter or a half. Note this includes Jessie Daniels.

Well, I hope you LSU backers are correct. I finally decided that the big line move down to 8 is mostly because of the massive support that ND always gets, no matter what. I do believe that ND is almost always bad value because they are always over bet. So I guess I agree that 8 is NOT enough (apologies to Dick Van Patten, et al). I am expecting to see sharp bettors push this line back up and to be very pleased with -8 by game time.

Here is the link about the violation of "team rules". I like where it says:

"The players have had opportunities in recent days to make up for their mistake, and how much they play or do not play tonight could be a game time decision".
