Incorrect.......there are individuals paying at least $65 for every $50 bag of pre-1982 copper pennies.

lol... and please calculate inflation from pre-1982 to now. Then tell me if holding bags of pennies from pre-1982 to now would yield a positive return.

HUH??

Who said anything about holding them for 20+ years????

A normal roll of pennies from most banks in this country will contain roughly 15-20% of pre-1982 pennies.

Obviously it would take mucho time to sort through the rolls before coming up with $50 of pre-82's, but to say it is not profitable to collect these is incorrect.

By the way, there are machines available on Ebay that will automatically sort the pre-82 coppers for you.

is it illegal?

b/c it seems people are willing to pay more than the value of the pennies.

if somebody is willing to buy for more than it costs me to collect, sounds like a profit opportunity...though not a big one.

PS: i think it is illegal though to melt copper pennies right? i dunno about this htough
