Default Casino w/ the Nastiest Poker Chips?

hey guys,

i normally play poker in the mid-west (Indiana Caesar's and Detroit Motorcity Casino) and have been accustomed to some abused and overused poker chips. This is where I first started playing live poker and knew nothing else. After several trips to LA and Vegas (Commerce, Bellagio, Venetian), I'm shocked to see how "new" and clean their chips were compared to where I play. Is this the norm?

Does the casino you play at have nasty poker chips? Chips that are chipped, the stickers (if they have them) falling/peeling off, dirt encrusted, and sticky? At Motorcity, they have some of the worst. I picked up a rash a while back after playing there one night and it took fungus cream to get rid of it and it's happened twice.....

The worst I heard was from Caesar's Indy...my friend played some low limit poker there and he said a guy with Herpes warts all over his arms was playing and pressing hard up against the chips and he got up and left, cuz he said he thought one of his warts burst with Herpes pus onto the chips. The chips there were so sticky and dirty, he just got up and left.

What is the norm where ppl play? From my experience the Commerce had VERY nice chips, as did the Venetian.

(has anyone complained or suggested to management about switching chips?)

Any casino that's been open more than 5 years in Vegas is probably still using the same chips as when they opened. Mirage is a good example. The edges on those chips are so rounded that you won't get one to stand on it's own.

Foxwoods' old tournament chips (the blue+grays) were nice and sticky. In a satellite you could amuse yourself by pressing your stack into a solid tube and roll it around the felt. They have new tournament chips which are pretty nice now.

The cash chips are getting pretty grimy. The $1s started out white but they're more gray than anything now.

Taj and it isn't close.

OK, well, maybe it is close because of the pus story, but the Taj is damn nasty.

They got new greens and reds over the summer but I think they're pretty nasty now too.

The new Taj chips aren't gross at all. The Borgata chips are more likely to stick together. Even the old Taj chips (which were pretty gross) weren't as bad as the sticky chips I saw on the old Players casino riverboat in Lake Charles in 1998.

I think they have gotten new ones, but the Monte Carlo in Vegas has some extrememly nasty chips for while. They were white, with texture, so they attrached sludge like dirt all over them, making the white chips essentially gray.

Excalibur had a similar problem, but they have since gotten blue ones instead of white.

Chips that pretty much always stay clean and never wear out (except for cracking) are center coin chips, but they were too expensive for casinos to use any more. Commerce still has some in circulation. The last Vegas casino to use them was Stardust.

Seminole Casino in Hollywood Florida, across the street from the Hard Rock.

The tournament chips don't even have the denominations visible anymore. If your are half near colorblind, you have to get the dealers to tell you how many chips to put in the pot. However, these are the easiest games in the world, so I just learned to have patience with the dealers and tolerance with the Indian tribes who are exploiting us poker players; by not even having decent chips for their monpolistic hold on decent poker tourneys in Fl.

When I go to Taj, I'm tempted to ask for a rack of grays, they aren't white.

I forget the name but the poker room in one of the Chicagoland casinos (Trump I think) is just disgusting. They decided to put a Crispy Creme near the room so there are times when you can literly see the sticky goo on the chips.
