I would say no. They didn't do anything wrong and probably still win a gold with the U.S.'s next best runner.

I would say yes. It sucks and is horrible, but she was the best runner, and replacing the best runner in the world with the 5th best runner in the US doesn't ensure a gold medal at all.

I'm really talking out of my ass right now because I can't recall the race but in general, but in relay type races that I can remember it seems the U.S. seem to win them all going away.

The Chargers their 2006 AFC West title?

My guess is that they'll handle it similar to the Figure skating thing a few years ago. Give the 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams a medal up but let the 3 remaining US women keep their medals.

Its a nasty situation.
