[censored] that keep that money. Maybe the cashier should pay more attention to what she's doing.

Hilarious that a thread like this would have such legs. I'm amazed that there's even discussion about what's right and wrong in this situation. About to go to three pages arguing about whether or not taking $1000 that's not yours and is a simple mistake is right or wrong. Amazing.

Holy [censored], this exact same thing happened to me, with almost identical amounts... I walked outside the casino and then decided in about ten seconds that I was going to give it back and not think anymore about it.

Yah gunna go with Passaman on this one... It's nice to think it's the casino's money so whatever but it's not. When she balances the cashier at the end of her shift she will be short $1000 and it's coming out of her pocket in addition to the fact that she might lose her job. It would be different if the slot machine [censored] up and gave him an extra 1k. In this case he knows by walking away he is effectively taking $1,000 from her. I've worked at a bank and made smaller but similar mistakes, and it's always a relief to have a customer correct me. Please return the money if this happens to you.

all of this about the poor imcompetent girl getting fired...touching, but frankly your friend did the casino a favor, assuming they fire her...no more lost moniez, at the least he deserves a pat on the back.

This is 100% totally stealing, and I can't believe the scumbag'ish responses of some people saying to keep the money. You guys should just admit you are thieves if you support this guy's actions.

Importantly, he is a thief and it is stealing because the element of scienter is present -- that is, his friend KNEW that he received a G too much, and he KNOWINGLY left the casino with a G that wasn't rightfully his. That's where the story ends. All the other justifications for his actions are just that -- justifications (and flimsy ones at best).

Others have said it in the thread, but your friend should be ashamed of himself cause he's a farking dirty ass thief.

BTW, the obv move is to go to roulette and put it all on a colour. If you hit, you return the k, if you don't, casino gets their money back; win/win.

ding ding ding

LOL???????

This way you're just taking $500 of the casino's money ($1000 x 0.5) instead of $1000.

[/ QUOTE ]
except youre giving back $1000 when you hit instead of keeping the whole thing so the casino's expectation is $1000

edit: nevermind, im dumb and half drunk

Law of Karma

The "Law of Karma" is central in Indian religions. All living creatures are responsible for their karma — their actions and the effects of their actions — and for their release from samsara. The concept can be traced back to the early Upanishads.

"As you sow so shall you reap" This is the Law of Karma. Interestingly, both science and religion recognize this law. In science it is often stated, “For every action there is an equal and opposing reaction.” Its religious counterparts are, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”; and “As you do unto others, it will be done unto you”; "Cast your bread on the waters and it will come back to you". Even today’s common knowledge expresses this principle in the saying, “What goes around, comes around.” This is the law of karma, of cause and effect.
