Westin Casuarina
No poker room, but was wondering if anyone on here has stayed there before. I got a good rate there for the WSOP and it seems like it won't be a pain getting to the Rio. Any feedback would be helpful.

From their web page
[ QUOTE ] Delayed Elevator Service From March 1, 2007 to November 30, 2007 there wil be a delay in the elevator service due to upgrading the elevators. Please contact the hotel for further information. [/ QUOTE ] Otherwise I don't recall hearing any bad things about 'em. Decent location for a not-quite-on-the-strip hotel. Right across from Bally's and a trivial walk to Bellagio and Caesars. |

Re: Westin Casuarina
I've stayed there before and it is a really nice new room with a great bed, perfect for collapsing upon at 7am. The hotel seemed business like, not exactly party central but that also meant they were quiet.
It is about a 10 minute walk to and from the Strip and is a bit hot at high noon to walk, but definitely doable. I'd stay there again if the prices were right. |

It seems pretty comfortable and is basically business travelers staying there. You won't deal with a lot of drunk idiots or scam artists here. It's pretty laid back, nice bar just off the entrance (near the lobby) and a small but friendly pit if you want to donk around at some nickle BJ or something some night. |

Re: Westin Casuarina
Very nice place to stay.
Food is very good. Bar is very nice. Beds are the best in town. Bus stops right in front so for a $1.25 you can ride to the Rio and not need to hoof it. |

Re: Westin Casuarina
Thanks that all sounds really good. I'm definitely looking for a quiet hotel as I don't really care all that much about nightlife. Business-like is just about perfect. Plus it didn't really make sense to pay a ridiculous premium to stay in a strip hotel when there's a brand name hotel much cheaper. FYI, the rate I got there is $75 a night, same for weekend and mid-week.

I repeatedly walked down from my 8th floor room. Comfy beds, though. |
