How do you Get Money off UB?

My apologies if this is the wrong forum, but I recently withdrew $70,000 from UB and they sent the money in 6 different checks, the largest of which was $12,500. I went to the bank today to cash them, and I was told that since checks come from a foreign bank, there will be a fee and that checks will take up to a month to process. WTF? Party was so easy-- money was automatically deposited into your account. How do I get money from UB with minimum hassle (and expense)? Any advice would be sincerely appreciated

Standard? No. I got a check from UB about 2 weeks ago, deposited it without incident, and it cleared in less than a week. My check was for much less than OP's checks, but I don't think that his experience was standard at all.

ive deposited 3 checks from ub and did a wire transfer. all went smoothly with no holds, tho there was a total of 75$ in charges for the wire. i think 50 of it was from my bank.
