What's the situation with cash games in Aruba - do you buy in with Aruba Florin or US$? I assume all the Aruba Classic tournaments are US$ buyins (and I further assume that you can't buy in to anything other than the main event using money in your UB account) ... are my assumptions correct?

I've been to foreign casinos before where they will take a chunk of US$ cash and exchange it for local currency, and then if you still have any local currency left at the end of the day/trip you can buy your US$ back without losing anything on the exchange - does anyone do that in Aruba?

thanks for any currency-related thinking...

Thanks! I just landed 2 hours ago - luckily I didn't stop by the ATM and pick up thousands of dollars in Aruban currency.

Does anyone know where the bestest, most donkalicious cash games are to be had? I'm guessing there isn't much going on in terms of tournaments until the UB thing gets started.

thanks for the reply,

Hey guys
ive never played in a major tourney outside of the us and have a couple of questions:
how much cash can be brought via plane on someone's person or in luggage?
if theres a limit to cash can i just bring a bunch of 5k cashiers checks?
will a casino down there take a wire transfer?

thanks for the help in advance!

I'll be there

If I do not know you please introduce yourselves. Looking forward to a great week. There are already about 400 signed up currently and we are paying 54 spots and 30% to first.

Even if you had been banned, you'd have made parole by now. :-)

Unfortunately, my current gig is gonna keep me out of Aruba this year, but I hope y'all have a great time. Matt Savage runs some of the best tournaments in the world, and it sounds like there will be a strong turnout.

I am interested in following the action remotely, however. Does anyone know who (if anyone) will be providing live online updates?

BJ,

I'll be posting updates and all sorts of stuff at the UB Aruba blog, but I don't know how much hand-by-hand live update coverage we'll do early on. Many of the UB pros will be posting stuff to the site as well, but the "live update" team is, well, me. And as we're expecting over 500 people, Day 1 chip counts may lag a wee bit.

But of course I'll try to keep up with who's in, who's out, who has a big stack, etc etc. Bluff is going to stream coverage of the final table, so those wanting to follow at the end will get hand-by-hand coverage. And once we get down to a few tables I'll be updating the action as fast as I can.

After taking a totally unscientific survey of the players I saw on the plane, at the airport, and in the hotel, I'd guess the median age of the players here is 22. Annette_15 is down in the tournament room playing a satellite/sit-n-go/something. Doesn't she have laurels to rest on?
