Default JJ preflop: Let\'s hash this out, k?

Ever since I've been here, the standard Micro-Limit recommendation was that JJ was a cap preflop. In fact, it's one of the things that blew me away about this forum, because I played JJ like a wuss preflop because I was afraid of bad flops, and was astonished that the 2+2 method advocated such an aggressive stance.

But along comes this hand, and a substantial amount of people are recommending to fold when it's three to us, including some heavy-duty dudes.

So what gives? Is JJ a preflop cap or not?

I don't recall it being a standard play. In particular, it's player dependent, and where the raises come from.

The link goes to your "stop misposting" image rather than a thread. Anyway I recall Sklansky/Malmuth and others have advocated folding JJ for three cold in their poker books, though many of those books were written before LHE got so popular and when the games were a lot less laggy than they became after TV poker etc. So then the games got so fishy that folding was missing EV because you still have the best hand a lot AND the pots are still more multiway than they should be even with all that raising. Now that the games have gotten tougher it may be correct to go back to folding it again (assuming fullring, non-steal situations obv).

So basically:

Against calling stations: fold
Against bad but aggressive players: cap
Against decent players: Evaluate based on position, tendencies of the raisers, postflop skill, etc.

meh.. there is a huge diff between facing 3 cold w/ JJ then raising and having someone 3bet it...

facing 3 cold, it is situation dependant and I will fold quite often.

Whoops. Thought I cleared that out of my clipboard. I obviously mean this thread.
