Flat screen TV, gift for wife - advice needed!

I was going to just go into costco and buy whatever they had out there in flat panel 36 inch but I thought OOT might be able to do better.

The size I know I want is 36" other than that I don't know what is quality or not. plasma or lcd? and should I go to costco to buy it or should i get it online and ship it here or should i go to best buy or circuit city?

Samsung is one of the quality leaders in HD LCDs. I just got a 32" which I am happy with.

Definately get an LCD over a plasma. Others can chime in on more detail, but they have less problems and are arguable slightly better quality.
