2 is a strong answer, and if you game select really well in Badugi or TD it's more or less impossible to lose; at the extreme you can only play HU against people who don't know the rules. You can't get a lot of volume that way, though. (I actually did this for several months beginning about this time last year. Eventually I drained that fish pond, though it was surprisingly large.)
A lot of people who play those games can play them with minimal competence though, and while the expert still has a huge edge they're not very soft for the average good player. I've actually found that when looking for big, somewhat sustainable edges for above average players, the best place to go is often high/low split games. |
