How often do you guys middle your early week bets? I am sitting here on Thurs, looking at about 4-5 2+ point middles I could go for. It will reduce my variance, but also kind of "ruins" what looks like a good bet from earlier in the week.

Schwatt,

You can calc whether you should from Kelly Criterion.

In all likelihood if you can lineshop around and can get a vigfree price.. You should hedge atleast some if not all.

take into consideration what numbers you have middles on,, if these are total numbers that are crap, it wouldnt matter too much in the long run

Most of the reason to take the hedges are so that your median bankroll is higher than it'd be now. It reduces your exposure. Optimally you'll likely only hedge a portion.

Just saw that the team totals at TheGreek are 15 cent lines. Yuck. I miss Pinny sometimes, although I will say that I'm getting to like Matchbook a lot.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I obviously won't middle things like -14.5 to +15.5 and the like.

I obviously will take the vig-free middles even when they land on garbage numbers.

My main question is should I middle stuff like -16.5 @ -110 and +17.5 @ -110? Is this standard to pay 10 cents vig to hit a common number? If this is okay, what is too much vig?

The numbers I am always looking for are 3,7,10,14,17,20,21,24 etc.

Thanks again.
