AA preflop; I still haven\'t decided what the best play is
Full Tilt Poker, $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter BB: $101.20 UTG: $83.65 MP: $116 CO: $175.50 Hero (BTN): $127.20 SB: $160 Pre-Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BTN) UTG folds, MP calls $1, CO folds, <font color="red">Hero raises to $4.50</font>, SB folds, <font color="red">BB raises to $15</font>, MP folds, Hero ..? Villain is 15/10/6/471, 2% 3-bet. My standard play is to smoothcalls pre and raise the flop. But I notice that it's pretty hard getting people off their hands preflop (like when I try to get them off JJ when I have AK). So should I be raising again preflop in these spots because villain clearly signals a big hand? Or do you only fastplay AA against idiots who can't fold, whereas this guy is obviously tight. |

You should 4 bet here.
You should also be 4betting non-AA/KK hands. |

Re: AA preflop; I still haven\'t decided what the best play is
4-bet shove is sexy here. A 2% 3-better is probably calling any 4-bet and shoving makes it look like you have AK and will likely get called by JJ/QQ/KK/AK when he might otherwise call and give up on a bad flop.
Against a loose 3-better it is often better to call and try to win a c-bet from junky hands. |

Re: AA preflop; I still haven\'t decided what the best play is
I would just call get it in on the flop. Someone that tight probably can't fathom 4 betting with less than KK and might make a big laydown. If you let the flop come off I'm sure he can talk himself stacking off with a variety of hands.

Re: AA preflop; I still haven\'t decided what the best play is
against this particular player, i'd 4-bet. his 3-bet range is so narrow. if he has AK, you want the money in pre-flop, because if he doesn't make a pair on the flop, that means less money for you.
