I bet this turn to protect against a lone spade (especially the A) and hands like 56,66. I'd also hope he'd have a J and pay me as well. Anyone check the turn to peel? Would it be better to push this turn? </font>

There are people who'd notice the difference in your betting amounts. Though most likely not in this hand.
Personally, I'd check the turn here and I wouldn't like a push, to be honest. You know they're chasing their draws, it's basically what you want. Sometimes they hit their draws and this might as well happen when you hit your set. And it really looks like exactly that has happened here with most opponents. I'd just accept it and take the free card to return him the favor of drawing out.

Villains aint that attentive so they wouldnt but as long as you make them pay to outdraw you its fine. I'd have checked in behind here instead of betting, the reraise screams flush at me.

I'd play this hand passively, if he is calling with bad odds or for bad prices thats where you make your cash. you don't make it by paying him off for hitting.

I think you played it fine. I wouldn't risk more on this turn scare card.
If river bricks I would call a smallish bet.

Yeah, check behind on turn. If he turned a flush, at least he was nice enough to give odds to fill up.

Okay, I haven't been posting here in a while, but something seems really wrong with checking this turn w/ top set.

I think betting out and then calling is fine. He's giving you odds to hit the house with the small raise. Plus he doesnt always hit the draw, AJ, 33, 44 are still possible although not the most likely. On a blank river I don't think I'd get my chips in.

Checking this turn is ugly. Real ugly. Real real ugly. You need to bet this turn. There are way too many draws to give a free card here with top set just because the turn may have completed villain's hand. As played, the bet amount is solid, obviously just call the small raise and hope to fill up on the river. Pushing is spew once villain raises. If you fill up on the river, push, if not, call a small bet, otherwise fold.
