hate to tell u but 911 isn't going to "hang up" on anyone.. and police would have been dispached just from someone calling even if they couldn't hear them. Try calling and hanging up one time, see if the cops show up at your house.

Obviously you live in a different part of the country than I. Here in the metro Atlanta area, I've been hung up on. I've also gotten busy signals. And people say I'm crazy for carrying a gun.

Thank God those 911 calls have never been anything more serious than a couple auto accidents and when I came upon an old lady who fell and broke her hip in a parking lot.

Here is a tip for your wife: If you think someone may be breaking in, make lots of noise so they know someone is home and awake. Screaming in the phone when calling 911 is great, too, because then they know someone is home, awake, and the police have been alerted.

Burglars typically don't want any trouble, they just want to go into your house when no one is there and take your stuff.
