Best of PS2 (just got PS2 for Guitar Hero)

I got a PS2 for the holidays with Guitar Hero. I have always been a Nintendo guy, and I haven't ever payed any attention to the PS2. Now that I have it, are there any games that I absolutely must buy?

On my way home from work, I am planning on getting GTA - San Andreas, Grand Turismo 4, and Guitar Hero 2.

I have two very guilty pleasures that I'd love to add:

Dynasty Warriors 3 (Play Endurance mode with Lu Bu and tell me if that doesn't make you feel better about yourself)

Katamari Damacy (Some games are like crack, this is intravenous heroin)

I feel like kind of an idiot to be JUST getting a PS2. But, even though the games may not be cutting edge, there is a massive supply of really good ones to chose from.

It's kind of nice to get a "new" old system and be able to pick and chose the best games over the past few years, instead of being stuck with chosing from the garbage launch titles.

Well, at least this will keep me occupied until I get a Wii.

I would agree with this being a pretty good must-play. I bought a GameCube jsut for this game basically (didn't know it was coming out to PS2 at the time)....

I can't really think of any other must-play games. I haven't gotten new PS2 games in a while. I'd imagine that one of the Silent Hill games is worth a try...but those might be PS1 even...

Only new PS2 games I get are football...bleh.

Silent Hill 1 was PS1 the rest came out for PS2. Although not as good as the RE series they are good games and someone who enjoys RE will probably enjoy these as well.

ICO - IGN put this as one of their top 20 games ever, so it's obviously a must.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

If you love 3D platformers, try the Jak series, especially II and III (II and III mix in GTA elements).

And if you're a big fan of Zelda, Beyond Good & Evil is an excellent but overlooked game that you can feel good about.

and IGN is way wrong. Stick with Shadow of Colossus, its the superior game by the game people who did ico. If you like Shadow then you might like ico too.
