Re: Comedy Improv classes?
Thanks for any advice. I am planning on doing this but have backed out of stuff similar at the last moments, I'll be sure to put a trip report if I do so.

Re: Comedy Improv classes?
[ QUOTE ]
This will not improve your improv skills because you rely on wit to improvise. You either have wit or you don't. If you have it then you don't need the class. If you want to do it for a good laugh and just to mess around then more power to you. [/ QUOTE ] I don't know if this is necessarily true. I took acting classes in HS ages 15-17 or so and it was pretty damn cool. Helped a lot with public speaking and crap like that. We did some improv stuff and you definitely see improvement. Obviously it won't turn a slow dimwit into Conan O'Brien, but some people have the base skills necessary and just need a nudge and some practice, like anything else. Maybe with adults it's harder, I dunno. Of course, doing it for fun should be your goal, but I wouldn't rule out learning anything on top of that. |
