Race for newborns?

Just a quick question on the race of newborns.... I'm under the impression that if the father is black and the mother is white, then the baby is black. Now if the father is white, and the mother is black, then what is the baby?

Example.... Halle Berry- Father black, mother white.... She's now having a child with a white father, so what does race does that make the child....

Also, what about an asian father, and a black mother, what is the child's race????

Just looked at my birth certificate. Doesn't state the
race of the baby. Only the race of the father and mother.
Guess baby decides for himself when he grows up.
