Internet sucks here so I'm on my cell..

Some funny things that happened here in Turks:

There were 115 people registered then at the last second 22 people who were locals signed up to barely make the prize pool less than a million. This is awesome because they were stacking off for 150x with tpgk.

Also they booked out Club Med for the tourney which meant that we had to stay somewhere else but obv Club Med had a ton of empty rooms which they then started giving out for free the night before to entice players to come from the US.

I was one of the 16 that voted for winner take all but whatever. We were being filmed when we were individually voting so that's another interesting thing.

Gotta play day 2 in an hour..

Gl Alan,

If you win, I hope you sue.

I had heard that Rhynie bought in like 35 locals/friends/donks on his own dime in order to meet the guarantee.

I don't understand the Club Med housing situation, but it sounds pretty ridiculous (yet awesome) that their $2,500 all-inclusive rate became a free room.

TID alan.

and how sick would winner take all have been for TV? it could have been the best WPT episode ever. 6 players, only one makes any money, and it's a $1m prize.

I'm sure it would have been. When John Duthie (who you probably saw in recent WSOP coverage) won the first poker million, the first prize was guaranteed £1m and second-sixth were paid very little by comparison. As a result of this, and Duthie's extraordinary play, it turned into the best poker on TV I've ever seen - and it was live, they showed every hand !

Are poker players so pathetic that they will tolerate any lies and abuses to get their Tournament Poker/TV jones on? I guess in the end no one cares what it pays or what was promised as long as a chance to get on TV is presented.

Maybe allowing the players to vote on the prize structure lets them off the million dollar first place guarantee.

137 entrants. 5 day tournament. On the internet this would be a 3 hour tourney. Do the players actually enjoy this?
